What can we offer?

Karate Education is the Schools Coaching department for the North West Karate Academy; with its team of qualified instructors we offer enrichment courses for primary schools within the Warrington, St Helens and Leigh Districts. Our aim is to develop school to club links within Karate so that children can grow up with a positive attitude toward health and fitness, respect for others and self esteem. We have been working with the Warrington Council (sports development) since 2005.

Both boys and girls enjoy karate, in the sessions children will learn new skills which will develop their co-ordination, balance, concentration and confidence. The course usually last around 5 weeks and we provide all students that complete the course with a certificate.

The courses are suitable for Pupils years 1-6; all they need is their P.E kits, we supply all other equipment. All coaches are Insured, CRB cleared, qualified Karate Instructors and First Aid certificated.

We can work with your school in school time or out of hours, morning or afternoon. You may wish our program to be used as PPA cover or as a change to the usual PE activities or extra curricular programs. Children that don't participate in sport as much as they should do may find they enjoy a Martial Arts approach to their exercise.

How Does Karate fit into the National Curriculum

The course also fits into the National Curriculum using Science, Literacy, Math, History and Geography teaching the children about Muscles, Heart and Respiratory Systems, Japanese Terminology, Degrees, Angles, Flexion/Extension (body mechanics) and more.

The Children also get to evaluate their performance using the information and knowledge we give them further adding to what is needed for National Curriculum Requirements.

School to Club Links

Karate Education is in partnership with the North West Karate Academy for children who wish to expand on their Karate after the course

We have Karate Clubs in the Warrington, Leigh and St Helens Areas

The North West Karate Academy is based in Cheshire / Merseyside and are members of the English Karate Federation ( EKF ) the only governing body that is recognised by the World Karate Federation ( WKF ).

NWKA are the founding members of the Karate Do Federation ( KDF ) along with the Southern Karate Do Federtion ( SKDF ).

Instructors are qualified, Insured and CRB checked.

We are Recognized Nationally and Local District Councils ( Gold Award ).

The academy has won thousands of medals from grass roots level to International level and has produced official British and all England champions in both Kata and Kumite disciplines in team and individual events.

Student/instructors have represented the official England Karate Team at Commonwealth, European and World Championships level. However, there are no pressures to compete as only a handful of students compete. The academy has also produced hundreds of Dan grades ( black belts).
